It all began a long time ago. I went to work with a thatcher as a part of my work experience in secondary school.

At the time, he was thatching a house in my local village. After I had finished school, I returned to thatching and have been working in the industry ever since.
While working in the early years, I completed a five year apprenticeship, during this time I also studied at Knuston Hall to achieve a City & Guilds in Thatching. I hold a Construction Skills Certified Card, listed with the association as a Heritage Skills Thatcher.
Over the years, I have worked on a huge range of projects; listed buildings, new builds, gazebos, summer houses and even theme park projects (yes, theme parks! I thatched Peter Rabbit's house in Alton Towers).
Aside from thatching, I am also married and have two lovely sons; Reuben and Jacob. I'm not sure whether or not they'll follow in my footsteps and become Master Thatchers themselves, we'll just have to wait and see!
We are proud members of the East Midlands Master Thatcher’s Association.
